KUDOS 4 KIDS

The Mendocino County KUDOS FOR KIDS After School Program Consortium represents a union of school districts, community partners, parents, and students who have a common vision that recognizes and seeks to develop the potential of each child by providing an enriching, fun, and safe environment that supports academic, emotional, and physical development in after school settings.

KUDOS FOR KIDS combines centralized county support and coordination with district oversight and site-level management. As the Local Educational Agency and ASES (After School Education and Safety) grant applicant, MCOE   provides coordination at the county level, with responsibility for grant management, fiscal monitoring, data coordination, attendance and expenditure reporting to the California Department of Education, staff development, communication, and monthly coordination meetings.

At the district level, partnership maintenance is managed through the superintendent's office. The district ensures that sites are collecting and reporting required data, and that services comply with the KUDOS FOR KIDS and CDE requirements.

At the site level, Site Coordinators coordinate partnerships among students, teachers, parents, and community members. They use a variety of interconnected academic assistance and enrichment strategies that link to the school day to strengthen skills, improve academic performance, and meet state standards. Site Coordinators maintain program activity logs and sign-in sheets to track student and parent involvement.

K4K after school programs operate a minimum of three hours a day, five days a week immediately following the regular school day. They are open until 6:00 p.m.
